HAPPY EARTH DAY!
Eco-Friendly Events & More…doing one small thing everyday makes a big difference in the long run…though I don’t believe this topic can be touched upon enough, Earth Day is here and Eco- friendly ventures are lurking around every corner.
Here are some ways for everybody to give back in a small way…
Some tips and what not to make your next event an eco-friendly one
1. Stunning invitation design on recycled papers
Today it’s easier than ever to be eco-friendly and still sophisticated when choosing materials for invitations. Minimizing the amount of virgin paper used and selecting recycled paper is one way to show concern for the environment, and there are beautiful, stylish choices available. It’s not just earth-tones and twigs anymore.
Using one ton of 100% recycled paper saves 4,100 kWh of energy — enough to power the average home for six months — and 7,000 gallons of water. It also removes more than 60 pounds of pollution from the air and saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, especially important as many landfills near capacity. That one ton of recycled paper spares about 17 trees.
- One site that really caught my eye was Earthly Affair, their elegant and creative designs of invitations really gives the engagement/event the feel of a personal touch.
- For a more causal/informal event, Evite will be the site for you. All the Evites are free. The have something for every occasion and holiday…be it Earth Day, Cinco de Mayo, or even Mother’s Day which are just around the corner.

Fun Fact: Eco-Cocktail
If you want today to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010, local South Florida businesses are giving back. Continuing their eco-conscious commitment, Area 31 at the Epic Hotel will join in the festivities with a special cocktail in honor of Earth Day.
Executive Chef John Critchley has created the TRU Earth Martini, which will be available at Area 31 from Monday, April 19 to Sunday, April 25 for only $8.
Sales of the TRU Earth Martini will aid in planting trees in the rain forests throughout Central America, as TRU Vodka pledges to plant one tree for every bottle of TRU Vodka sold. Each tree removes 790 kgs of CO2 from the atmosphere over an average 50-year lifetime.
